Technical Documentation Manager

What we need:

As the Technical Documentation Manager, you will be responsible for creating and updating documentation and supporting knowledge base around our current and soon-to-be-launched product offerings. We provide a diverse array of infrastructure options including Mac computers, data center hosting, networking technology, SAN storage, virtualiztion, and more as part of our Mac private clouds. We are also gearing up to launch new software products that will need careful documentation to help our customers discover and use them. The ideal candidate is a terrific writer with a passion for thorough, usable documentation and a technical background with exposure to both software development and IT infrastructure.

The right person for this role will be a self-starter with an ownership mindset and the ability to collaborate with engineers, customers, and marketing team members. Our Technical Writer will report directly to the Sr. Director of Marketing and will work out of the Atlanta headquarters office at Piedmont Center in Buckhead.

What you will be doing:

  • Learn MacStadium’s product offerings and maintain a deep familiarity with technical aspects of our solution and our customers’ use cases through ongoing research.
  • Develop a structure for MacStadium’s product documentation and create a plan to populate and maintain content in that framework that is well-written and useful
  • Create and maintain a content plan with deadlines, research plans, and approvers for each piece. Plans should prioritize each item and provide justification for the need, and demonstrate that feedback was gathered from the right stakeholders and SMEs
  • Maintain ownership over documentation ensuring that it has a consistent/useful format and voice and addresses 90+% of customer/prospect questions and needs

What skills and experience you need to have:

  • Expertise and a point-of-view on creating developer-centric product documentation
  • Strong portfolio of technical writing to demonstrate your expertise in this area
  • Fanatical attention to detail allowing you to produce consistently error-free content
  • Experience with content management systems to organize and publish documentation
  • Planning and product management skills to help you organize and track your efforts
  • Strong interviewing and research skills to help you gather relevant detail quickly
  • Startup experience (i.e., working in fast-paced, high growth environments)
  • Knowledge of software development (preferably mobile) and/or networking technology
